Moscow, May 23 – The Ukrainian National Police is investigating the facts of possible criminal offenses related to the financing of Volodymyr Zelensky’s political party “Servant of the People” in the amount of about three million hryvnias (more than 78 thousand dollars), the country’s National Agency for Anti-Corruption (NAPC) reported.
“NACP revealed indications of a criminal offense in the financing of the Servant of the People’s Party. The NACP sent a reasonable conclusion about the crime committed to the National Police of Ukraine to enter information in the Unified State Register of Pre-Trial Investigations in connection with this, the agency said in a statement.
It is noteworthy that three individuals made monetary contributions to the account of the “Party of Power” in the amount of a total of 2 million 896 thousand hryvnia (78.4 thousand dollars). The agency found that these citizens did not have the appropriate income for such contributions. “This may indicate that the people who made the contributions did, in fact, only dispose of the funds of third parties who intended to remain anonymous in funding the political party,” the center explained.
It follows from the communication that, according to the law, contributions in support of political parties by anonymous persons or under a pseudonym are not permitted. This violation is punishable by a fine from 100 to 300 of the tax-free minimum income of citizens or correctional labor for a period of up to two years, or restriction of freedom for the same period, with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in some for a period of five years.
