Ubisoft is closing several locations due to a drop in physical game sales. The publisher will close offices mainly in Europe, according to an email that was intercepted and posted on ResetEra.

Ubisoft Benelux is one office that is singled out for mention.
The email claims that the company’s “many issues owing to external reasons” are to blame for the decision. Beginning April 1, those working at the Benelux top office will leave the organization.
As everyone knows, the market is continuously changing, and as a company, we need to stay up with it. The concentration of marketing through digitizing all of our communication channels, the move from large retail releases to F2P, mobile and seasonal titles, and less significant physical shows are some of the problems that Ubisoft is currently experiencing.
“Ubisoft’s management has decided to close many European subsidiaries,” the statement says, “to face future difficulties.”

The closures are not affecting any studios, at least not directly. The email makes it appear like the publisher will be the only one closing the marketing and distribution offices.
