Since iOS 15 in 2021, Apple Maps has introduced a more detailed map with uniquely drawn landmarks in significant cities worldwide. Chicago, Los Angeles, London, New York, Paris, San Francisco, Sydney, Toronto, and many other cities already offer the new “Detailed City Experience,” with more to follow.

Almost 300 3D landmarks, like the Royal Opera House in London and the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, can be found in the new Landmarks app, recently published by Montréal-based developers André Baev and Simon Gardinier. For the iPhone, Mac, iPad, and Apple TV, the software is accessible through the App Store. To correctly display the 3D landmarks in full color and detail, a smartphone with an A12 or M1 chip and newer is required.
You can engage with an immersive animated landscape that represents each landmark. For viewing them in light or dark mode, there is a toggle. The landmarks are arranged by city, and as new models are released, the app will continuously update them. The software is free to use and ad-free. However, users who want to support the developers can unlock the gyroscope feature for as little as $0.29.

On its iOS feature availability website, Apple regularly updates a list of locations where the Detailed City Experience is accessible.
A comparable Preflights software from Baev was also made available, offering 3D map views of significant airports and necessary data.
