The police said house-to-house video surveillance and forensics were under way and cordon in place.
Assistant Chief Constable Jenny Sims said: “This is a really shocking incident. in which is tragic young and an innocent girl was shot and sadly died.
“Our thoughts and condolences to her family and friends during this very difficult time. Not parent should someday you have to endure losses of child in these terrible circumstances.
“This crime disgusting and our communities must come forward and say us who is responsible”.
The police called for video recorder, video surveillance and mobile phone recording anyone in in area of kingsheet avenue on Monday night.
