LAHORE: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Chaired the meeting on Monday review in affairs of Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute (PKLI) in Lahore.
He was informed about the administrative affairs of institute. He was told that last year The Institute has performed 290 kidney transplants and 190 liver transplants.
Only 17 percent of patients from them could use a free medical facility of at the institute, he was told.
Besides, prime minister was informed of in progress on hospital nursing university project.
Sharif complained over negligence of the authorities in completion of in project. He expressed dissatisfaction over conditions provided to patients at the institute.
He ordered the hospital to provide international standard opportunities for their patients, in addition to asking the authorities to provide free treatment for at least 50 percent of his poor patients.
He said the goal of PKLI was supposed to provide free transplant services to the poor segment of society.
Sharif ordered the Punjab chief secretary prepare strategy about the design of the PCLI financially independently and submit a report in about it in three days.
He also aims to make PKLI a trust. He ordered for fast completion of nursing university project. He suggested outsourcing hygiene. system of institute in to maintain high standards of purity.
The meeting was attended by Khawaja Salman Rafiq, Khawaja Imran Nazir, Head of the Punjab Health secretary secretary, concerned authorities and officials of the PKLI.
Meanwhile in Punjab government decided to establish a trust run institute. All expenses of the institution will bear through the trust.
The provincial health department held a briefing for Punjab. Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz in in this respect.
CM they said fourstar hotel or modern commercial market would made on Bedian Road next to the institute. Income from a hotel or commercial market will be passed to PKLI for run This affairs about the administrative and medical institutions of the Institute.
In addition to trust income, Punjab government would also allocate funds to the institute.
After the creation of the trust, government can save on in budget distributed for transplant center.
