Update on the Devastating Wildfires

The recent deadly wildfires that struck Maui have left a trail of destruction and despair. Maui County Mayor Richard Bissen has just announced that there are still over 850 people missing in connection with the wildfires.

These wildfires have proven to be the deadliest in modern U.S. history, claiming the lives of at least 114 people.

FBI Assists in Identifying Missing Individuals

The number of missing people has been determined through a comprehensive effort led by the FBI. They have combined and refined various lists of missing individuals to arrive at this official count.

Mayor Bissen expressed mixed emotions about the situation, stating, “We are both saddened and relieved about these numbers.” He explained that the initial missing person list contained over 2,000 names, making the current count of over 1,285 people located safe a positive outcome.
