5 dead after a collision of 2 boats in Georgia

Authorities said Sunday they found the bodies of three people went missing after a collision between two boats in Georgia, bringing death losses up up to five. Four more have been rescued, according to the US Coast Guard.

Two people were confirmed dead and three more missing, Department of Georgia of natural resources said in statement.

Several agencies searched for three missing victims using “Sector scanning sonar and divers,” Georgia told the DPR. The three missing were found on Sunday morning around 9 am. in 14 foot water depth and in “Close proximity to each other,” Georgia said to the DPR.

Identities of five victims will not be released until further notice of their families.

Georgia DNR stated in statement that the witnesses said that collision happened when “two centers console boats with total of nine passengers six in one ship and three in another, traveled in opposite directions when they collided.”

Four others people were rescued and taken to a local hospital with minor injuries, the DNR in Georgia reported.
