Casting home a six-digit salary is a mark of financial success for a lot of people and this more common depending on where are you live.
For example, as many as 1 in 3 women in San Jose, California brings home at least $100,000 per year yearaccording to new report from GoodHire, an HR platform. The analysis uses data from the US Census Bureau, Bureau of Labor Statistics and the US Department of Trade to find out where there is higher shares of highly paid people across the country.
It makes sense that highest concentration of six- figures live in expensive cities around the bay and on East Coast. workers in these competitive talent markets can also have more leverage for negotiations higher pay, although this does not always mean that it covers basic living expenses.
And because of racial and gender pay gap, women less likely to reach six-figure threshold compared with men. Total 11% of women earn $100,000 or more on a national level, while 21% of men do.
Here are the top 10 cities in the US where women most likely earn six-digital salary:

Although some cities have high shares of women who earn six numbers or more, this is not the case across the country. Women who work full-time year-round earn median of $50,982 per year so far men earn median of $61,417 per year, according to the Census Bureau.
General, full-working hours women pay 83 cents for each dollar pay the man and the gap gets wider for a lot of women of color. What adds up up to about $417,000 in lost wages over 40-year career, according to the National Women’s Law Center, or an additional 12 years of work for women to match menx earnings.
