Egypt Grants Permission to Build Fourth Power Unit at Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant

Egypt’s Council of Ministers and the Egyptian Nuclear and Radiological Authority have agreed to grant permission to construct the fourth and final power unit at the Dabaa nuclear power plant.

Egypt’s Council of Ministers said in a statement Wednesday, citing the Egyptian Nuclear and Radiological Authority, that the agency had agreed to grant permission to build the fourth and final power unit at the Dabaa nuclear power plant with a capacity of up to 1,200 megawatts.

In June 2022, Russia’s state-owned nuclear energy company Rosatom said it had received approval from the Egyptian regulator to begin construction of the country’s first nuclear power plant, which consists of four units with a capacity of 1,200 megawatts each.
