Toyota’s Land Cruiser to Make a Comeback with a Revamped Design and Lower Price
Toyota’s Beloved Land Cruiser Returns to the U.S. Market with a Heritage-Inspired Design
Toyota has announced that the iconic Land Cruiser will be reintroduced to the U.S. lineup next year. The 2024 Land Cruiser will feature a more compact size, a hybridized turbocharged powertrain, advanced infotainment and driver assistance technologies, and a retro-inspired look reminiscent of its early days.
Affordable Pricing for the Land Cruiser’s Revamped Model
The U.S. version of the Land Cruiser, imported from Japan and based on the Land Cruiser Prado sold globally, will have a starting price in the mid-$50,000 range. This is a significant reduction from the previous model, which began at $86,880. Toyota aims to make the Land Cruiser accessible to a wider range of customers.
Improved Performance and Off-Roading Capabilities
The 2024 Land Cruiser will be 4.4 inches narrower and 1.2 inches shorter than its predecessor, providing greater agility on and off the road. It will be built on Toyota’s global F1 body-on-frame platform and offer impressive ground clearance of up to 8.7 inches. With a turbocharged 2.4-liter engine and an integrated electric motor, the hybrid powertrain will deliver up to 365 hp and 465 lb-ft of torque.
Enhanced Features and Safety
In addition to its performance upgrades, the 2024 Land Cruiser will introduce a double-wishbone front suspension, full-time four-wheel drive with an electronically controlled two-speed transfer case and center-locking differential, and the ability to tow up to 6,000 pounds. It will also come standard with Toyota Safety Suite 3.0, offering advanced driver assistance technologies such as lane keeping and pre-collision assist.
Anticipated Arrival in U.S. Dealerships
The highly anticipated 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser is set to arrive in U.S. dealerships in the spring. Toyota executives are confident that the new model will continue the Land Cruiser’s legacy of adventure and durability.
