AML Chief Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed Criticizes ‘Illegal’ Government, Raises Concerns About Pakistan’s Elections and Foreign Policy

Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed: Government has put national honour, assets and foreign policy on sale

RAWALPINDI: Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed said on Friday the “illegal” government had put the national honour, assets and foreign policy on sale to stay in power.
Hitting out at the ruling coalition in a tweet, the former interior minister quipped that burial should be declared free for poor people at least to give them relief at this stage.

Elections in Pakistan questioned

He said the observers from across the world were asking whether elections will be held in Pakistan on time, if so, then how it will happen. He asked against whom will the PPP and PML-N, which are coalition partners in centre, would contest elections.

Disadvantages of Karachi and Azad Kashmir elections

Holding the general elections the way witnessed in Karachi and Azad Kashmir would carry more disadvantageous. He also took aim at Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, saying he had completed fifty of foreign trips and now had reached in the US.

Fourth failed attempt of secret political activities

He said the US tour was a fourth failed attempt of the secret political activities, adding that Bilawal Bhutto would return empty handed.

Trouble in formation of caretaker setup predicted

Saying the politics of horse-trading will not prevail, Mr Ahmed predicted trouble in the formation of the caretaker setup in the centre.

Impact of IMF loan deal

The former minister said the “real impact” of the IMF loan deal would surface after July 12 when the executive board’s meeting is scheduled. He feared that the way stock exchange and rupee were making rebound, the situation would be other way around after July 12. He also lashed out at the government for increasing the price of 20kg flour bag by Rs100.
