Moscow, May 24 – Singaporean comedian Waheed Sathai, winner of the Asian Film Festival, has died at the age of 93. This was reported by The Straits Times.
The diabetic artist was hospitalized in early May with a toe injury. He was later released. The comedian died at his granddaughter’s home in Singapore. The cause of his death was gangrene and heart disease.
During his lifetime, Sattai, who started out as a set decorator in the film industry, has been compared to actor Jerry Lewis. Thanks to his sense of humor, with which the artist conquered his colleagues, he was invited to star in films.
In 1957, the artist first played a comic role in the film “Pontianak”. Almost ten years later, he became the winner of the Asian Film Festival in the category “Best Comedian”.
