Surgeon Alexander Umnov said that beer lovers are at risk of getting blood clots, heart ischemia and myocardial infarction.
Umnov pointed out in an interview with NEWS.ru that addiction to beer develops 3-4 times faster than addiction to other alcoholic beverages such as vodka, whiskey and cognac, and if a person is addicted to beer at an early age, then by the age of thirty he will suffer from serious health problems, and deadly ones.
He added: Usually they are not limited to this drink, but beer lovers switch to drinking cognac and other alcoholic beverages, and become real drug addicts who need professional help.
He said that beer drinkers suffer from a rumen (beer belly). Since beer foam contains cobalt, the heart and blood vessels suffer and “bull heart syndrome” develops, as the walls of the heart thicken and its cavities expand, which leads to its rapid consumption. These changes lead further to coronary heart disease and thrombosis in the pulmonary artery (pulmonary embolism). Because of these factors, deaths from heart disease are high among beer drinkers.
According to him, because of the rapid absorption of beer and saturation of the bloodstream, the alcoholic suffers from high blood pressure and varicose veins.
