Astana, May 17 – Kazakhstan and China have signed an intergovernmental agreement on mutual exemption of citizens of the two countries from visa requirements for tourist and business trips, reports the press service of the President of Kazakhstan.
The President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, arrived in China on Wednesday for a state visit. On the same day, he held talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
As previously reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, the document provides for the exemption of citizens of the two countries from visa requirements for travel for a period not exceeding 30 calendar days from the moment of crossing the state border. In total, they are allowed to stay without a visa for 90 calendar days within six months.
According to the Kazakh Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the signing of the agreement on mutual exemption from visa requirements will help strengthen relations between the two countries, and facilitate travel for citizens.
As noted in the draft agreement, previously published on the Kazakhstan portal “Open Normative Laws”, the parties sign this document “desiring to further strengthen the permanent comprehensive strategic partnership relations between the two states, in order to facilitate mutual travels of citizens of their states on the territory of their states, in accordance with the principles of equality and mutual benefit.”
