Samsung Electronics said its chairman Lee Jae-young met with Tesla CEO Elon Musk earlier this week, referring to a “potential partnership” between the world’s leading chipmaker and electric vehicle giant Tesla.
Lee met with Musk at the Samsung Semiconductor Research Center in Silicon Valley, California. It was the first face-to-face meeting between the two, although they also met at other events, according to the agency, published on Sunday. and Al Arabiya.net reviewed it.
Industry sources said Samsung and Tesla are seeking partnerships to develop next-generation IT technologies, including chips for self-driving cars.
Industry watchers said the recent meeting could pave the way for the two companies to expand their partnership in the automotive chip sectors as the global automotive chip market is expected to reach $400 billion in 2024 and hit $700 billion in 2028.
This is not the only meeting the head of Samsung has had during his US tour, the source said, as he has held a number of meetings with other business executives, including the Microsoft CEO and the head of Google.
