Beijing, May 11 – French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna said during a meeting with her Chinese counterpart Chen Gang in Paris that France is ready to strengthen cooperation with China on the Ukrainian issue.
In turn, Qin Gang stressed that China’s starting point in resolving the Ukrainian crisis is the terms put forward by President Xi Jinping.
“China is committed to promoting a political solution to the crisis, maintains cooperation with all parties, and will continue to play a constructive role on this issue,” said the Chinese foreign minister.
Chinese President Xi Jinping had a telephone conversation with Volodymyr Zelensky at the end of August. During the conversation, the President of the People’s Republic of China said that China will send a special government representative for Eurasian affairs to Ukraine and other countries to exchange views in detail on the political settlement of the Ukrainian crisis. Earlier, Bloomberg, citing informed sources, wrote that the French president wants to approach China with a plan that, in his opinion, could lead to negotiations between Russia and Ukraine. It is noteworthy that Macron assigned his diplomatic advisor, Emmanuel Bonne, to work with the head of the Bureau of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Chinese Communist Party Central Committee, Wang Yi, to lay a basis for negotiations.
