Tom Nedis, US Ambassador to Israel, Set to Depart from His Position in Summer.

Two US officials told Axios that US Ambassador to Israel Tom Nedis will leave his post this summer after nearly two years in Jerusalem.

A US official told Axios that during a working visit to Washington last week, Nedis told Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and White House National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan that he wanted to leave office this summer and return to the United States for personal reasons after away from his family since December 2021.

Two U.S. officials confirmed to the site that Nedis informed senior U.S. embassy officials on Tuesday morning of his planned departure and informed the Israeli Prime Minister’s office of his decision on Monday evening, hours before Israeli airstrikes in Gaza.
