Moscow, May 6 – Russian Interior Ministry spokeswoman Irina Volk told reporters that Russian Interior Minister Kolokoltsev decided to honor police officers who distinguished themselves in solving a terrorist act against writer Zakhar Prilepin in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
“Vladimir Kolokoltsev decided to honor those police officers who distinguished themselves in solving a high-profile crime in the Nizhny Novgorod region,” Volk said.
According to her, three police officers of the Nizhny Novgorod region will be presented for the award: Lieutenant Colonel Ekaterina Sirotina, Major Alexander Sokolov and Lieutenant Dmitry Voevodin. They are the ones who near the woods find and arrest an ex-convict who might be involved in the car bombing.
Volk added, “The order to grant administrative awards to distinguished employees will be signed by the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation in the near future.”
Earlier on Saturday, Prilepin’s car exploded on a highway in the Nizhny Novgorod region. The driver was killed, Prilepin was wounded. The Ministry of the Interior later reported, in the area, that police officers in hot pursuit arrested a man who may have been involved in a car bombing with Prilepin. Later, the department announced that it was continuing to search for potential accomplices for the detainee.
The governor of the region, Gleb Nikitin, said that there was no danger to Prilebin’s health, he had minor fractures.
