Software firm Virtex has presented the first-ever virtual esports arena. Users will be able to watch Counter-Strike competitions on the new platform.

The Virtex Stadium was designed to provide viewers with a genuine experience. It features a large stadium that is large enough to accommodate spectators worldwide, as well as a lounge bar, main hall, and lobby where users can interact with their friends. Virtex has partnered with Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, which will serve as the launch title for the platform. Counter-Strike 2, the sequel to Counter-Strike, will also be included in the platform’s list of titles when it goes live in the summer.
Viewers can witness live Counter-Strike competitions from the expansive virtual stadium in real time. However, if players want to get in the thick of things, they may easily switch onto the game’s map to witness the action from a closer vantage point. The data from escharts showed that Counter-Strike enjoyed an all-time high viewer count of over 2 million. The accumulative prize fund of CS: GO events rounded out at $15,651,065. Counter-Strike was the third most viewed esports title in 2017, and escharts data showed that the title enjoyed an all-time peak viewer count of over 2 million.
The Virtex Stadium will be available to players on a date that has yet to be determined, but users can sign up for the Closed Beta right now. In addition to watching matches with their friends, players will also have the ability to build their unique avatars; the whole thing has a very Ready Player One vibe to it.

The only games currently compatible with the platform are Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Echo VR. Both of these games are currently available for purchase. Despite this, Virtex urges its users to provide suggestions for games they would like to see added to the platform. The esports community will benefit from the arena’s presence in their lives. It is designed to imitate esports competitions’ high drama and exciting atmosphere. During the Closed Beta phase, desktop and compatible VR headsets users can access the Virtex Stadium and compete in various events.
Which additional game(s) do you hope will be added to the lineup at the stadium?
