There won’t be a new Hitman game anytime soon. Due to the development of other games, IO Interactive said that there is currently a need to plan for a new game based on the adventures of Agent 47.

The confirmation comes from a conversation between IO Interactive co-owner and chief creative officer Christian Elverdam and Eurogamer, in which Elverdam discusses the status and future of the series.
A large, major new Hitman game is currently on hold. At the same time, developers focus on creating another agent fantasy, which also takes up much of their work, he explained. “It’s a good thing I’m not a lawyer,” he said. He’s still very much in the heart of this company.”
The other “agent dream” is a new James Bond video game currently being created. An original James Bond origin narrative is featured in the game, which was announced in 2020. IO Interactive is also creating a fantasy role-playing game. There have yet to be any public explanations of what that game comprises.

Relax if you’re concerned about what that means for everyone’s preferred assassin. Elverdam claims the current game will still be upgraded, including additional features.
We have such an amazing platform where we can keep experimenting with what the formula is capable of and what users want from it, he said.
Content from both Hitman 1 and Hitman 2 may be found in Hitman World of Assassination, to which Hitman 3 was renamed earlier this year. In January, a new Freelancer mode was added to the game, which allows players to plan missions and incorporates roguelike qualities.
What do you think about the news that a new Hitman game won’t happen soon?
