Elahi, 10 ex-PML-Q MPAs jump ship, join PTI

LAHORE: former head of Punjab minister Chaudhry Pervez Elahi on Tuesday announced joining PTI along with ten others former MPA of Pakistani Muslim Leek Quaid (PML-Q).

Speech at a press conference in Lahore, along with PTI Vice President Fawad Chaudhry, Elahi said he has always supported with former prime minister Imran Khan duringhard and testing times”.

He said Ch pervaiz Elahi also met PTI Chairman in on this matter, adding that party “evaluates” role plays PML-Q.

“Pervaiz Elahi has support of Munis Elahi and Hussein Elahi too,” he said and added: “There were two options- either merge PML-Q with PTI or they join PTI”.

Talking to mediaCh Pervaiz Elahi hit out with Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif for closing down Health card. He said no such step will be accepted, which is detrimental to PTI’s reputation, adding that he will work “Wherever Imran wants” for him too.

When asked if the establishment hinted at him join PTI, Elahi said, “If the establishment hinted, it good. I try everything moves together”.

Elahi previously visited and held a meeting with Imran at his Zaman Park residence attended by senior party leaders on both sides.

Elahi had on January 15, addressed possible merger of PML-Q with PTI and said his party decision will show up after their consultative meeting to beat out offer.

It said that PML-Q, as a political party, has its own personality, vote bank, party discipline and manifesto were all violated by Elahi’s comments. “If there of their wanted To join another party Then they should relinquish their positions and retire, otherwise PML-Q would have no other option but contact the electoral commission of Pakistan to remove them,” added.

On the other hand, the PML-Q Electoral College office-bearers authorized Elahi, the partypresident of the province at the time, to take decisions on on behalf of of V party with in connection with its merger with PTI on Imran’s suggestion.

Differences in PML-Q ranks

Differences in PML-Q ranks first appeared in March last year around that time of V no-confidence movement against Imran as Parvez and Munis Elahi entered the PTI camp while Shujaat joined the then opposition.

The same split was observed in July Chief of the Punjab minister elections saga since Shujaat supported the candidacy of Hamza Shehbaz of PML-N instead of Parvez.

Amid the widening rift between Chaudhry of Gujrat, Shujaat extended olive branch in August to Parvez with a request to put an end to differences.

PML-Q leader spoke in in detail about the reasons that led to discord between him and Parvez. However, he called for reunion of V party who split into two camps after the split over elections of Punjab CM.
