There are many ideas, processes, or knowledge circulating across the spectrum of the business world that, with even a small investment, can become protected by patents. Many of them do not find their rightful place in the domestic and international space of research, development and innovation, so they live without protection or end their careers forever. Thanks to the unlimited access provided by the Internet, the domestic SME sector is also beginning to discover blockchain-based solutions that provide an immediate opportunity to prove whose intellectual product a given procedure really is. A good example of this is Mozgásklínika’s therapeutic concept uploaded to the blockchain, Mozgáspiramis, which may even become a patent in the near future, SZTNH Computerworld reported.
The development of Internet technologies is not only slowing down, but also becoming more dynamic. Blockchain-based solutions are being implemented one by one by large multinational companies, regardless of the industry. There are already several automakers – and they are the largest – that track the service intervals of each vehicle on the blockchain, but in addition to industrial users, the solution has appeared in healthcare, mobile communications and the art world.
The question is, how will this international trend affect global patent procedures, will it multiply them, or will it force patent organizations to introduce technological innovations? The fact is that there are 3 main sectors in terms of innovation: military, automotive and health industry, which means that the population of the Earth globally spends more and more on their own protection, mobilization and health. With regard to healthcare patents, their number in Hungary has increased significantly in recent years, which clearly shows their innovative potential. According to 2022 data (total national and European patents), there are about 35,000 patents in force in Hungary. In the field of patents, the pharmaceutical industry has received the largest number of patent applications from the pharmaceutical industry in recent years: the National Intellectual Property Office (SZTNH) currently holds about 12,000 pharmaceutical-related patents.
Mozgásklinika is a domestic innovative healthcare provider that has recognized the innovation, business and knowledge sharing opportunities inherent in the field of physiotherapy. Physiotherapist and chiropractor Rita Sentivani created a pyramid of movement by summarizing and evaluating her practical experience over more than two decades. Rita Sentivani emphasized:
“There are times when a technological discovery initiates an innovation, and sometimes it is the accumulated experience. The Pyramid of Movement itself should be thought of as Maslow’s famous pyramid; it only generalizes the laws and mechanisms of action of healing and rehabilitation of motor defects characteristic of the human body. A therapeutic concept based on experience, the effectiveness of which is beyond doubt!”
The Mozgáspiramis concept has been uploaded to the blockchain for the first time, which means that it is indeed the first Hungarian new manual therapy product in the virtual space. Of course, Motion Pyramid’s goal is to protect the National Intellectual Property Office, but that will be the result of a longer process. Gyula Pomasi, President of SZTNH, explained:
“We not only care for and protect the newly created Hungarian intellectual products, but we ourselves are open to the introduction of innovative technologies at the system level. One of the big challenges of the future is how to integrate blockchain solutions into domestic and international intellectual property protection. In this regard, we are also active players that we want to become, in fact, we already have innovative solutions, even based on blockchain, that are widely available.”
