Parliamentary committee fails to reach consensus on appointment of Punjab caretaker CM – Pakistan

A parliamentary committee is set up to appoint an acting head of the Punjab. minister failed come to a consensus on Friday, leaving the issue to the decision of the election commission of Pakistan (EKP).

Former minister Raja Basharat, Mian Aslam Iqbal and Hashim Javan Bakht represented the ruling PTI-PML-Q alliance at today’s meeting, while the prime minister represented the opposition. special aide Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan, PPP parliament leader Syed Hassan Murtaza and Malik Nadeem Kamran.

Talking to media in Islamabad after the meeting, Basharat named the presented names on on behalf of of PTI for chief caretaker minister were better than the peaks of the opposition “from all sides”.

Khan demanded that the PTI-PML-Q alliance name “more professional man” than Chima. He added that the ruling coalition objected to Cheema due to ongoing corruption case against to him.

He also defended for Naqvi’s appointment, stating that he was “a non-partisan person” and “media tsar who have worked with CNN“.

Murtaza expressed regret that both sides could not reach an agreement on cause.

“Today we are not in position to decide and cannot reach consensus of opinion on nothing and reason for i.e. the members are sent with diktat that “you don’t have to take anything,” he said.
