LAHORE: Gujranwala and Sahiwal were saved from major destruction after five Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) fighters were arrested during reconnaissance offensives. on Saturday, police said.
Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of The Punjab police have uncovered the development, identifying the detainees as Inam ul-Haq, Maskin Ulla, Waheed Khan, Sher Naqib and Shah Wali.
CTD officials said explosive materialweapons and suicide belts have also have been recovered from their possession.
Several cases have been reported against suspects and they were transferred to an undisclosed location for interrogation, they added.
On direction of Main of Punjab Police, 526 such operations have been carried out in the past week. in so far, 130 suspects have been arrested and 21,227 people have been questioned.
