Scotland weather: Amber weather warning extended with fast-current flood water, “causing danger to life”

An amber weather warning in east scotland was extended as the pouring rain floods the details of country, with flood leading to school closures and violations on roads and railways.

Friday morning lane of the westbound M9 road was closed at J2 due to flooding. In Fife, the A92 was closed between Parbrough and Melville Lodges junction due to flooding, and in Dunfermline, Halbit Road was shut with sabotage in place.

Regional flood warnings in place from the eastern borders to Aberdeenshire, with Scottish Environment Agency warning Aberdeenshire and Angus are particularly vulnerable.

it was 20 flood warnings and nine flood alerts in place on Friday morning.

Transport minister Jenny Gilruth said: “The Met Office warning us expect a period of difficult weather in parts of east scotland during friday, with heavy rain can affect travel in in amber warning area in in north East.

“The conditions have the potential to disrupt transport operations. network so it’s important people plan your trips before they set off, especially if they want use by highway or by rail.
