Five people were taken to the hospital after a serious fire in Leith for the night. Great Junction Street was still closed this morning while emergency services area. Firefighters and police arrived at the scene shortly before 3 am. on Tuesday morning, November 15th.
Clear, fire broken out in Flat in three-storey building on in corner of Bonnington Road and Great Junction Street. Six crews were mobilized fire and the rescue service confirmed.
Police said they received a report of a fire in in property in Bonnington Road around 3am. The spokesman said, “The emergency services have arrived and five people were taken to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary as a precautionary measure. Number of surrounding houses were evacuated. fire not considered suspicious, but investigation is ongoing cause”.
Bonnington Road at Swanfield, Cables Wind at Mill Lane and Great Junction Street between Henderson Street and Bangor Road currently closed, police said. Drivers are asked avoid in area and plan ahead.
