Defended woman from Texas in Recorded Racial Confrontation Arrested – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

Plano Woman facing charges after investigators say she assaulted and threatened several Indian-American women in an outbreak of racism that was recorded on video Wednesday night.

According to the police, law enforcement officers were called to restaurant parking on block 3700 of Dallas Parkway around 8:15 pm. When the police arrived, they said that several women reported being attacked by a woman who was still at the scene.

Around 3:50 pm on Thursday detectives with The Plano Police Department arrested the woman and identified her as Esmeralda Upton. Police say Upton has been charged with physical attack injury and a terrorist threat, both misdemeanors, and that she was being held on bonds totaling $10,000.

“This is quite shocking and disturbing,” said Urmit Junzha, President of Association of India of North Texas.

Junezha says North Texas home to one of largest Indian-American communities in United States.

“We firmly believe that this is our home. We have been here for a long time, and this is not something we hear every day,” Junja said.
