Sharif goes to Qatar on first state visit

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif traveled to Qatar on Tuesday, his office said, on the two-day visit was dominated by his administration’s efforts to secure important funding from the tiny but gas-rich Gulf state.

This is Sharif first visit to Qatar since acceptance office in April. He is accompanied by a high-level delegation, including members of his office.

During the visit that comes by invitation of Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, leader of host country, Sharif will host “in-deep consultations with host management, government agency Associated Press of Pakistan reported.

“Care for Qatar today by invitation of my brother […] Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani [Qatar’s leader]. The visit will reconnect of brotherhood and friendship between our two countries”, prime minister tweeted.

He said Pakistan wanted to transform its historical relationship with sheikhship inmore strong strategic relationship.

Sharif said that during his communication with market as well as business leaders, he would highlight “exciting investment opportunities” in various sectors including renewable energy, food security, industry and infrastructure development, tourism and hospitality.

Both governments will review “the whole spectrum” of ties, with Special attention on development of cooperation in the field of energy, deepening trade and investment links, as well as exploring broader employment opportunities for Pakistani citizens in Qatar.

They will also exchange opinions on a range of regional and international questions of mutual interest.

Bye in Doha, Mr. prime minister will also attract with leading business executives, investors and entrepreneurs.

He will visit Stadium 974 in Doha, which will accept matches during the 2022 FIFA World Cup. There he will be informed on extensive preparations undertaken by Qatar for the mega event.

Pakistan and Qatar enjoy close and cordial fraternal ties, deeply rooted in common faith, mutual trust and understanding, close cooperation. Relationship marked by growing collaboration in all fields of bilateral interest, as well as close coordination on regional and international questions.

sheikhdom home to more than 200,000 people from Pakistan who contribute to progress prosperity and economic development of two nations.

Regular exchanges at the leadership level are a hallmark of bilateral partnership. The visit will give new impetus to the deepening of cooperation between the two countries in various fields and further strengthen its growing economic partnership.
