Owami Davis: Police watchdog considering investigation after Met officers previously spoke to missing nurse

A police monitor may conduct an investigation against the Metropolitan Police after force Revealed offices previously spoke to missing persons student Nurse Owami Davis.

24-year- the old one was last visible on July 7 in Derby Road, Croydon after leaving her family home in Grace, Essex.

The police and ambulance visited Ms. Davis and spoke to her. who told them that she did not require help.

Despite being reported missing, she was not marked as missing. on in the police database, and it was not until later in the course of the investigation that it was identified as Ms. Davis.

officers in the issue is not in the investigation, but in the directorate of the Met of Professional Standards (DPS) were consulted before the Independent Office for The Conduct of Police (IOPC) requested that the case be turned over to them.

IOPC currently consideration and receipt of additional information from the Met, and yet to be done decision as to whether he would investigate the case as it stood.

Scotland Yard said in a statement: “The Metropolitan Authority of Professional standards (DPS) have been consulted and, as with the IOPC police have been informed.

“IOPC asked that this matter be referred to them. Officers are not subject to any current DPS investigation.

“Interaction recorded on officers body-worn video was viewed by members of Independent Advisory Group and Owami family to ensure openness and transparency.

IOPC said in statement: “We can confirm that we got direction on August 5 from the Metropolitan Police Service in attitude towards contact officers was with Owami Davis in Croydon on July 6, after Essex police reported her missing.

“We currently grade available information to determine what next steps might be required”.

On Thursday, the British Transport Police released a statement alleging that Ms Davies could still be using rail network but in “vulnerable or confused state”.

CCTV Released last the week showed her in dark jacket, red Adidas T-shirt and light gray joggers at 12:30 on foot north on London Road from West Croydon towards Norbury.
