ISLAMABAD: Federal government authorized the release of imported items who arrived in ports after 30 June with penalty surcharge of 100 percent of estimated cost, according to ARY News. on Saturday.
According to the federal government authorized the release of all imported items and gave a slap up up to 100 percent fines on goods reaching ports by the end of July, despite restrictions.
Notification in this relationship has also was issued by the ministry of Trade after federal cabinet approval. government authorized the release of vehicles, mobile phones, home appliances and more items with a penalty surcharge of 100 pieces.
The notice stated that other imported goods were allowed. on payment of surcharge up up to 35%. “Goods arrived after June 30th and up will be out by July 31st with penalty surcharge of 25%” is added.
Previously on August 18, federal government lifted the ban on import of non-essential and luxurious items three months after the restriction was introduced.
Speech at a press conference by Minister of Finance Miftah Ismail announced that the federal government lifted the ban, noting that the restrictions were in place in line with requirements of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
In May government unveiled an emergency economic plan and banned imports of dozens of unimportant luxury items.
