LAHORE: Celebrated playback Singer Nayyara Noor dies after a short illness in Karachi on Saturday, her family said. She was 72 years old.
nature of her illness could not be immediately established.
Was born on November 3, 1950 in northeastern state of Assam in India, she is together with her family migrated to Pakistan in 1957 Radio Pakistan.
Passionate Enthusiast of melody, Nur began to teach music at a very early age and received it first break on Radio Pakistan in 1968. Three years later, in In 1971, she was introduced to Pakistani state television.
Her long career spanned several decades, during which she sang popular national as well as movie songs. The late singer was honored with several national awards, including of Bulbul-e-Pakistan next to Pride of Performance Award in 2006.
Nur survived her husband Sheharjar Zaidi and two sons, Naad-i-Ali and Jaffer.
Her funeral will be offered in Karachi in afternoon.

On twitter he told her death was an irreparable loss for pakistan and lovers of classical music. “Nur was known for her melodic voice and emotions,” said Shehbaz Sharif, adding that no matter what genre she sang, be it ghazals or playback songs to become famous.
