COAS orders army to ‘take all measures’ for flood relief

Main of Qamar Army Headquarters General Jawed Bajwa ordered the Pakistani army to “take every measure” to assist the provincial government of Balochistan as the province reels from the devastation caused by record flooding, according to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

In phone call with Quetta Corps Commander Lieutenant General Asif Ghafoor, Army Commander, ordered the commander to provide assistance in “rescue, humanitarian and rehabilitation activities on on an emergency basis in coordination with Civil Administration”.

“Unprecedented rains caused destruction of human life and communication infrastructure, especially in Balochistan. Army resources should be used for help affected population and restore critical communications infrastructure as an immediate temporary measure”, military media the wing quotes the commander of the army.

General Bajwa added what the army is worth with injured people in during this difficult time and will “make efforts to provide assistance as national obligation.”

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif launched a 37.2 billion rupiah flood relief cash program. on On Friday, provide 25,000 rubles. cash help to everyone of 1.5 million families across flood- affected areas of country.

On Thursday, the Pakistani army said its rescue and relief efforts were ongoing. in various flood-hit areas of Balochistan and Punjab hit both provinces after heavy rains.

According to ISPR, army units were busy in relief activities in Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Nasirabad and Lasbela.

The army helped in transportation of victims and their belongings to safer places. “Army medical teams provide medical assistance to the injured people”military” media wing added.

Frontier Corps (FC) in Balochistan deployed boats in in flood-affected areas of in region in order to save people who got trapped due to heavy rain.

COAS has assured that the Pakistani Army will support flood victims”in this is a difficult time of testing and will undertake this assistance as national obligation.”
