Three people saved like a terraced house crumbling after fire and explosion in Croydon | UK News

Three people were saved as house collapsed after fire and explosion in Croydon, south London.

Six fire engines and about 40 firefighters were sent to the fire in Galpins Road, Thornton Heath, shortly after 7 am. on Monday.

Kutoya Kukanda, 50, and Delroy Simms, 62, said they helped save three. children from the rubble, but they feared that a girl, about four or five years old, was still locked inside.

They said they believed the children mother was evacuated.

Four people assisted by doctors on the spot – three of who were taken to the hospital.

Dozens of residents gathered outside police cordon in your pajamas.

Some said they smelled a strong smell of gas two weeks ago, while others said they felt dizzy and nauseous. over in last two days.

One local resident told Sky News they heard loud rumblings from several streets. like storm passing through house and opened the doors.

Others said they were woken up up through noise. One person living down the road said windows and doors of his son’s room was shaking after the explosion.

The London Fire Department said it had taken 14 calls about the incident and neighboring houses received also was damaged.

“Three people rescued,” the statement said.

A spokesman for the London Ambulance Service said: “We treated four patients during the incident. in Galpins Road, Thornton Heath. One was released on from the scene and three others were hospitalized.

“We remain on scene with our emergency service colleagues.”
