ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Miftah Ismail denies concerns with in connection with the likely failure in redemption of international loans.
Ismail during a conversation with the think tank in The United Arab Emirates expressed its hope that the country would receive more dollars in next a few weeks, what will help in improvement in exchange rate.
He said that a request to a friendly country for an increase in foreign exchange reserves was rejected.
Finance minister said that the permanent governor of National Bank of Pakistan (SBP) will be nominated soon.
“Governor of State Bank and Prime Minister know, we will not default,” Ismail said. He said his ministry is making efforts to improve the balance of payment of country.
“We will continue to hold imports in reasonable limit for next two to three months, federal minister said. “Pakistan is expected to receive more dollars from abroad in next two weeks,” he said. “So be it help pressure relief over rupee”, minister said.
“Foreign exchange reserves declined up to $9.3 billion, but there are enough reserves for 45 days import of country,” Miftah said.
minister in in an earlier conversation it was said that the country, in WTO convention cannot think of imposition of any restriction on in dollar, adding that all currencies were depreciated against It. He claimed that the Pakistani currency appreciated about three days ago. against euro, yen and pound sterling, and that was right in basket of currencies.
Finance minister added that what happened in the last days happened primarily because of political unrest as import figures of the current month has given him confidence of a decline in in demand of in dollar against offer and therefore the situation of exchange rate would turn around.
