KARACHI: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) on On Saturday, flights to Damascus were suspended after Israeli forces resorted to bombing the airport in the Syrian capital, ARY News reported.
According to national a representative of the flag carrier PIA canceled the flight PK-135 from Karachi to Damascus, which was supposed to take off off on Friday morning.
Similarly, he said Flight PK-136 was supposed to carry 169 passengers from Damascus; however, flights were canceled due to the runways being completely out of service.
“Both runways are inactive due to the bombing of Damascus airport, which resulted in complete suspense of (flight) operations there,” spokesman Abdullah Hafiz Khand said. in press statement.
The representative regretted the inconvenience faced passengers, explaining that the flight cancellation was unavoidable due to operational problems.
He said the flights would be rescheduled soon how were the runways restored; otherwise, passengers will be transported by alternative means.
Accordingly, he said, all passengers are informed through PIA. call center.
Syrian Transport Ministry on Friday announced “suspense of incoming and outgoing flights through Damascus airport” as result of technical failures.
“Resumption of flights must be announced after installation and equipment are fixed to ensure in safety and security of operational traffic,” the message says.
