Rules for relaxation for foreign teachers work in schools in England | Courses for teachers

Qualified teachers from any country in in world will be able work in schools in England if they have equivalent powers and at least one year classroom experiencethe ministers said.

The change coming into force next year will open up capabilities for teachers from countries outside 39, where teaching qualification currently recognized, including in Europe, USA, Canada and Australia. Until now, teachers from other countries had to pay for retraining before they could teach in English schools.

Schools minister Robin Walker, said: “The experience we draw on should not be limited to geographic location”, and that he wanted England became “the most attractive place in in world being a teacher means world“great teaching, high standards and, most importantly, opportunities.”

Teachers starting their careers will receive the same introductory period as teachers. in England, including reduced timetables and access to the mentor and development. They will need have completed pedagogical education of the same academician standard as in England, including those with a university education, and be required demonstrate knowledge of the English language.

Applicants will be able to apply for qualified teacher status, and if government believes that their qualifications match those of teachers in UK, they can apply for workplaces in schools that will sponsor their skilled worker visa if their application is successful.

School principals said move was sign of “a very severe shortage of teachers in schools and colleges.”

Julie McCulloch policy director in the Association of Heads of schools and colleges welcomed the move added: ” government repeatedly falls short of their own initial teacher training goals, and too many teachers then leave profession early in their career.”

She said it left schools struggling to fill vacancies and that this “particularly affects those who face greatest challenges”.
