ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s foreign policy secretary Sohail Mahmoud briefed OIC ambassadors in Islamabad on derogatory remarks made against Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) by leader of India’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
In a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (FO), a foreign secretary dedicated organization of Islamic Council (OIC) role in promotion of rights and fundamental freedoms of muslim ummah around world.
Foreign secretary added that the violent reaction from the OIC countries to such completely unacceptable actions was natural, given the love and respect of Muslims for Holy Prophet (peace be upon him).
Sohail Mahmoud stressed the importance for in international community taking into account of in rising high tide of Islamophobia in India.
He added that India must be held accountable for infringement of rights of its religious minorities, especially the Muslim population, which is a victim of incitement to hatred, harassment and violence committed under the auspices of the state.
A day earlier, Pakistan summoned the Chargé d’Affaires ai of India and issued a categorical refusal and strong condemnation. of very derogatory remarks made for two senior officials of BJP about the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
Foreign office press secretary in the statement reported that it was conveyed that these remarks are completely unacceptable and not only deeply hurt feelings of in people of Pakistan, but of Muslims through world.
The Indian diplomat was also told that Pakistan regretted the belated and superficial disciplinary action taken by the BJP. government against said officials who can’t take the pain away caused to Muslims.
