ISLAMABAD:
rumors circulating of lack of fuel and further spike in prices triggered panic shopping in major cities on Tuesday causing chaotic long queues down in the pumps among stuffy weather.
Panic generated by the untested news items prompted government and relevant authorities for issue immediate clarification and announce that no price increase is planned, at least for today, assuring that there was no shortage of fuel.
It all started when the rumors on social media started doing rounds with some TV channels also conducting unverified news items claiming that government was going to jack up Prices of oil products. news further said that supply chains also started to creak.
Rumors erroneously linked shortages and increases in performance prices of Minister of Finance Miftah Ismail. Although he never said that gas prices would go up, the rumor mill kept going, announcing the increase. of from 15 to 30 rubles per liter.

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marryum Aurangzaib also took on Twitter to clarify what was not truth in raising assumptions in a lack of of fuel across the country. “Rumors of increase in Prices of oil products absolutely false”, information minister tweeted.

representative of The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) was next clarify that prices of oil products did not increase, saying that the country has enough reserves of oil products.

An Ogra spokesman said all oil marketing companies have been ordered to maintain sufficient stock at gas stations. Later it became known that officials of in dealer The associations said that fuel depots have not yet cut off the supply to gas stations, but due to the rush at gas stations, their stocks may soon be exhausted.
It is pertinent to note that rumors quickly spread and caused long queues at gas stations like federal government recently increased price of gasoline at Rs 60 to a whopping Rs 209.86 per litre.
