Yasmin and Hammad take first posts in Punjab in PTI shuffling

LAHORE:

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Saturday appointed former provincial health minister Dr. Yasmine Rashid as President of in the partyCentral Punjabi Wing.

The appointment was announced through a notification addressed to PTI Central Secretary General Asad Umar.

According to the notice, Hammad Azhar was appointed as Secretary General of Central Punjab, Aamir Kiani as President of Northern Punjab and Senator Aon Abbas Buppi as President of Southern Punjab.

Changes take place after failure of in party Punjab office bearers effectively mobilize supporters during the “Azadi March” held last month.

Hardly any leader from central Punjab could reach Islamabad to join political activities due to poor planning.

It was reported that only Dr. Yasmine Rashid and Hammad Azhar tried best to escape from the police and local administration to the participation in long march in Islamabad. Both leaders faced police torture and ill-treatment, but expressed their resolve not give up in any circumstances.

the day before, former federal education minister and former PTI Central Punjab President Shafqat Mahmood resigned from his post. post for medical reasons.

The ex-minister also congratulated the arriving provincial office bearers and expressed his good wishes for them.

Turning to social media conference in Peshawar on On Wednesday, the head of PTI said that his party filed a petition in Supreme Court for “peaceful protest” in Islamabad.

“We want protection from the Supreme Court on do we have the right to peaceful protest and can the judiciary allow these “criminals” [government officials] torture women as well as children- he said.

Imran had also said that the courts are formed for give protection weak, adding that this time they would be better prepared going to Islamabad and won’t repeat the “mistakes”.
