ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The government and its allies have yet to decide on a name of Chairman of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim Nawaz (PML-N) have different people in intelligence for in post of NAB chairman. The PPP wants judge (right) Maqbool Bakir to be appointed chairman of the NAB and due to the conflict in names, opposition leader Raja Riaz and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif failed to meet.
According to sources involved in the case, PM-Ns have names like Aftab Sultan, Ihlak Tarar and Jahanzeb Khan in mind until Prime Minister Shehbaz decided to hold meetings with allies to break the deadlock.
Vice Chairman Zahira Shah is acting Chairman of the NAB, while Opposition Leader Raja Riaz also given a name of a former bureaucrat for in post of Chairman of the NAB, but due to deadlock, the name was not finalized.
Sources from government showed that consultations on finalizing the name of The Chairman of the NAB will continue to made for a week.
