ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Law and Justice Shahadat Avan on Thursday briefed the Senate on government accepts steps improve performance of Pakistan Railways and will provide maximum facilities for people.
Responding to additional questions during the question hour, he expressed the hope that performance of railways in future adding that last three years’ performance of PR was in front of us like a number of tragic accidents took place.
Avan said the ministry has purchased 20 locomotives. in 2017, adding that currently all DE locomotives in working condition. “Reliability and availability of this particular fleet mostly stayed above 95 percent against in bench mark of 85 percent,” he added.
Avan said that the railway infrastructure in Balochistan is maintained in accordance with available Resources in to ensure the safe and secure travel of passengers.
He said that the railroad track in Balochistan consists of Sibi Quetta-Chaman, Spezand-Taftan and Sibi-Khurnai and some part of Jacobabad Seabee section.
He said that improvement of amenities for passengers out providing toilets, drinking water and renovation of waiting rooms in various station buildings.
In addition, Shahadat Avan said that the buildings of ten stations were repaired and rehabilitated. on Sibi Harnai-Khch section, along with repair of 25 bridges.
Meanwhile, the federal minister for On parliamentary affairs, Murtaza Javed Abbasi reported that the contract for rehabilitation of track between Sama Satta-Bahawalnagar on The Sama Satta-Amruk section has been handed over to M/s FWO adding that the contract agreement has been signed on March 19, 2021
He said that total cost of Contract of rehabilitation of the route between Sama Satta and Bahawalnagar awarded by FWO is 7735,000 million rupees.
He said that government would work on proposal under consideration of in government modernize and rehabilitate the Narowal-Kartarpur railway line.
