Motorway A11 near Elveden reopened 19 hours after it was closed after a serious three-vehicle crash.
It was second serious crash on A11 in just two days – two men were killed on Monday 30 May near Mildenhall when two trucks and car faced.
emergency services, including air ambulance were called to latest crash around 10.30 yesterday, Wednesday, June 1st.
The road was closed in in both directions between Barton Mills and Elveden following crash between truck, Land Rover Defender and Porsche.
driver of Porsche, woman in in her 70s, she was airlifted to Addenbrooke’s hospital. with serious injury where she remains.
truck driverman in in his 50s, he was taken to West Suffolk Hospital. in Bury St Edmunds is injured which are not considered serious.
crash caused extensive damage to the central security barrier and the A11 remained closed in both directions between Barton Mills and Elveden while the investigation was ongoing. took and the roadway was cleared.
National Highways confirmed that the road reopened around 5:30 am today (Thursday, June 2).
In a tweet, the authorities said: “A11 is now open. in both directions on A1065/A1101 to Barton Mills and B1006 to Elveden upon completion of night grinding work.
“Traffic is going well in in area.”
A workaround has been laid in place as drivers asked avoid in area.
