India assures Pakistan of solving problems on hydropower projects

India on Tuesday assured Pakistan of discussing your problems over New Delhi hydroelectric power plants on western rivers.

Confidence came at the 118th meeting of Pakistan-India Standing Commission on the Indus (PIC), held in New Delhi from 30 to 31 May, the Foreign Ministry said. in statement.

A six member of the Pakistani delegation led by the Commissioner of Pakistan for The waters of the Indus, Syed Muhammad Mehar Ali Shah, while an Indian side headed by Indian commissioner for The waters of the Indus AK Pal.

Pakistani side also looking for an answer to objections on Indian projects including Pakal Dul while also calling for fellowship in promote flood-flow information in accordance with the provisions of Treaty and practice in in fashion from 1989 to 2018.

Indian side assured that I would arrange tours and post-arrival checks flood season. it also assured that Pakistan’s pending objections would be discussed in in next meeting as they were still in process of looking at the details.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to the implementation of the Indus Waters Treaty. in this is true spirit and expressed the hope that next meeting of Commission will be held soon in Pakistan.

According to relevant provisions of Indus Waters Treaty (IWT) 1960, the meeting takes place alternatively in Pakistan and India annually.
