Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Friday expressed deep concern over statement of life imprisonment for one of the most prominent Kashmiri leaders Yassin Malik, who was leading peaceful freedom struggle for many decades.
reaffirming our solidarity with in people of Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) in them struggle for their rights, including the right to self-determination, the OIC General Secretariat called international community to ensure what is legal struggle of Kashmiris for implementation of their rights should not be equated with terrorism.
He also called on in government of India will release all Kashmiri leaders unjustly imprisoned and immediately end the gross and systematic persecution. of Kashmiris in IIOHK; and respect the right of in people of controversial valley define your own future by means of a free and impartial plebiscite enshrined in relevant UN Security Council resolutions.

On Wednesday, an Indian court sentenced Yassin Malik to prison. for life over several accusations, including “terror funding”, causing street protests outside its residence and condemnation from the Kashmiri diaspora around the world.

Last week a special Indian court condemned 56-year- old chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) on accusations of “terrorism and financial acts of terror after he “pleaded guilty” to all 10 counts. However, he told the court on environment that he practiced non-violent politics after providing up arms in 1990s.
prosecutors demanded of court to award death penalty but Special Judge Parveen Singh instead sentenced to life imprisonment under section of Law on the Prevention of Illegal Activities. The court stated that Malik “does not want any court and, therefore, he was ready to plead guilty.
The court of first instance was appointed for cases filed by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), India’s leading anti-terrorism agency. body. NIA blamed Malik of crimes, including waging or attempting to wage war against India and fundraising assistance for anyone to “commit act of terrorism.”

In Srinagar, main city of IIOJK, authorities cut internet connection and police used tear gas and pellets to disperse stone-throwing protesters outside residence Malik, who shouted slogans demanding his release.

Malik held several negotiations times with indian governmentincluding with two previous prime ministers. Prime Minister Narendra Modi government declared the JKLF an “illegal association”. in 2019 year when India split the IIOJK following the repeal of constitutional provisions that provided special status to region.
