Pakistani and Indian diplomats staged a verbal duel at the UN on Wednesday on The Kashmir dispute, specifically the life sentence given to the prominent Kashmiri leader and chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), Yassin Malik.
Permanent Representative of Pakistan Munir Akram, attracting the attention of the UN, criticized New Delhi. for his continued oppression in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) as he drew attention to the life sentence awarded to Malik by an Indian court. on false accusations of terrorism.
In response to the statement of the Pakistani envoy, the representative of India, Vidisha Maitra, said that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of of India. However, Pakistan’s representative Qasim Aziz Butt dismissed India’s oft-repeated claims, stating that Kashmir was a disputed territory.
