Interior Minister Rana Sanaulla on Punjab police said Wednesday they had arrested at least 1,700 members of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in “4414 raids in the province” in attempt to disrupt the “bloody” long march former decree party.
minister made these remarks while speaking at a press conference together with Minister of Information Marrium Aurangzeb in Islamabad.
According to Sanaulla, the police were informed government do not take an “aggressive stance” during raids. It can be noted here that the police came under fire after the surge of raids on Houses of PTI leaders.
Sana told reporters that at least 1,700 arrests had been made. made during these raids. “From of these 1700, 250 people signed an affidavit that they were not part of of this “fitna” and released home while the rest of they were detained for MPO (maintenance of Public order) 16″, minister added.
Answering a question, Rana Sana said that if the arrests made Sindh police were added to the number of detention in Punjab, then the number could be “1720 or 1724”.

In his press release, Sana claimed that people refused join “anarchist” protest of PTI and decided to stay in home. He claimed out of 200 million inhabitants of Lahore, only “came 250-300 out express your support for in former decree party”.
He said public wanted see Pakistan grow in democratic way instead of become a part of plan to wreck it progress.

minister also asked the court to keep events of 2014 sit-in such as attack on PTV building and Imran’s broken promises regarding the location of the protest, in mind taking it decision on petition filed by PTI.
Besides, minister reiterated that no agreement had been reached with PTI over sit-in, however.
