Chairman of the Water and Energy Development Authority (WAPDA), Lieutenant General (right) Muzammil Hussain, has resigned from his post. post on Saturday.
Muzammil mentioned some personal reasons in resignation letter and sent it to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
“Due to personal and family coercion, I could not continue to work,” he wrote.
Muzammil was first assigned to post for five years former prime minister Nawaz Sharif on 08/24/2016. He was later given a reprieve. for five more years of PTI government in 2021.
Talking to news way out, Muzammil said he was retiring from his post for “some personal reasons”, adding that he would speak in “detail” after acceptance of his resignation.
“I sent my resignation letter to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif,” he said, adding that during his tenure he worked on several important projects related to water resources and made WAPDA is independent.
Last month, Prime Minister Shahbaz, during his visit to the site of Diamer-Bhasha Dam sent the head of WAPDA to ensure completion of in project by 2026, forward of his schedule of 2029.
Speech after the briefing over design of dam, the prime minister said, “Nothing in This world impossible. Therefore, efforts to complete in project by 2026 instead of 2029 should be made”.
