Woman killed, another wounded in Shooting in downtown Portland, police say

One woman died, another was injured in a shooting on Sunday in in downtown Portland, police said.

The police responded to the messages of shooting at 10:15 on corner of Southwest Clay Street and Southwest 12th Avenue, near Portland State University.

officers found Attempts were made to save the woman who had received a gunshot wound, but she later died in hospital, police said. Another woman was taken to a nearby hospital. with injuries that did not threaten her life,” the police said.

Police said the suspect has been taken into custody.

At 11am there was a large police presence. outside flat building on in corner of Southwest 12th Avenue and Clay Street, and a woman was seen being loaded onto a gurney and lifted into an ambulance. People walked past the scene as the police continued their investigation. Filming took place near the Church of Grace, where services continued on Sunday morning.

The shooting came less than a week after Portland State University. student was mortally wounded less than a mile from on April 4 at Southwest College Street and 6th Avenue. Boy student Keenan Harpol, 20 of Bend was arrested on suspicion of murder 19-year- old Amara Marlyuk.

Two others people were killed in downtown Portland in in past week. The woman was fatally shot near West Burnside Street and Sixth Avenue. on Thursday night and the man was mortally wounded in neck under Burnside Bridge at noon on Friday. None of the victims have been publicly identified.

There are currently 29 homicides in Portland. in 2022 – two more how city experienced at this moment last year.

At least 92 people were killed in Murders in Portland in 2021 destroying the cityprevious record of 70 kills in 1987.
