Sadiq Khan thanks Cressida Dick on final day as Commissioner of the Met | Cressida Dick

Mayor of London thanked outgoing Metropolitan Police Commissioner Dame Cressida Dick. for four decades of “devoted public service” on her final day in in role.

Dick resigned after Sadiq Khan. public criticism of her appeal of a group of Policemen from Charing Cross Police Station who shared racist, homophobic and misogynistic messages on Whatsapp.

Other scandals, including brutal police of vigil for sarah everard, who was killed by a Met officer believed to have contributed decision. Her resignation in february came just hours after she said she wasn’t going to of care.

In a statement, Khan said, “I would like thank lady Cressida Dick again for almost four decades of devoted public service, with spent the vast majority at the Met where she was first woman to become a commissioner. In particular, I praise her for recent work in help us bring down cruel crime in London”.

He said he wouldn’t support appointment of a new commissioner who “does not understand or does not recognize the scale of in challenge facing the police.”

“Now I’m working with in home secretary on kit of a new commissioner, he said. “I was clear that i wont support appointment of anyone who does not understand and does not recognize the scale of in challenge facing policeman. Restoring trust and confidence of Communities of London are critical to policing by consent and ensuring our city safer.”

Dick will take unused annual leave while she final day of official employment on April 24th. It’s clear she’s getting severance pay of £166,000 most of which is associated with six- one month notice plus surcharge of salary for two months.

On Friday, Dick warned against “politicization of police”, stating that it was “a threat, not just police but trust in whole criminal justice system”.

Deputy Commissioner Sir Stephen House will act as Commissioner while the recruitment process continues. It is expected to take up up to five months.
