Assad Qaiser steps down office in the midst of political chaos

ISLAMABAD: Speaker of the National Assembly Asad Qaiser announced late Saturday night that he’s retiring post after the country plunged into political chaos.

“I am responsible to the Constitution and the most important demand of the oath is to protect the sovereignty and integrity of Pakistan,” Kaiser said. in his last speech as a speaker.

The Kaiser asked the leader of the opposition in National Assembly Shahbaz Sharif review letter and also shared that he would send a letter to the chief judge of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial.

“I can not do it anymore remain on seat of the Speaker and I are resigning,” Kaiser said. He also shared that he accepts the decision of the Supreme Court decision and asked former speaker Ayaz Sadiq run in session.

“Ayaz Sadiq is asked to come and complete judicial procedure [on the no-confidence motion]Kaiser said.
